RETAILERS in the Wodonga Homemaker Centre worry business will be affected by the closure of Warehouse Sales.
Homemakers Sleepzone sales manager Russell Huon said there would be a short-term impact on stores within the vicinity.
“I think the closure will make people nervous about putting down deposits,” he said.
“It might reflect badly on everyone.”
Mr Huon said when something like this happened, it deterred people from buying.
He was hopeful their neighbouring store would eventually reopen and felt sympathy for employees.
“It has got to be hard for all of them,” he said.
Mr Huon said the closure was a shock to everyone.
“We didn’t see it coming,” he said.
“We thought the business was doing well because it has always been busy.”
Mr Huon said they had a lot of Warehouse Sales customers in their store asking for information.
“We can’t tell anyone anything because we don’t even know what’s going on ourselves,” he said.
Mr Huon said he believed the closure might have been due to the broader group of franchises.
