A WOMAN has been charged with stealing $1500 worth of clothes and shoes from a Beechworth store on Sunday.
Beechworth police Leading Sen-Constable Steve Harris said the items were stolen from Beechworth Emporium on Camp Street about 1pm on Sunday.
Sen-Constable Harris said keen-eyed staff noted the registration number of a car the alleged thief got in to.
He said staff rang police soon afterwards.
Police broadcasted the registration number to police across the North East.
Police in Myrtleford spotted the car in O’Donnell Avenue in Myrtleford just after 4pm.
A woman, 50, from the Melbourne suburb of Narre Warren, was arrested.
She was charged with theft and bailed to appear at Myrtleford Magistrates’ Court on December 6.
