WITH Jamie Whincup leading the Supercars Championship by 96 points from fellow Holden driver Craig Lowndes, this weekend will be crucial in the race for the V8 Championship.
Whincup, who is $1.30 to win the Drivers Championship, is the $3 favourite for the famous race and will be looking for his fourth win at Mount Panorama.
Punters see his main danger as another Holden driver and second favourite Craig Lowndes ($4), whom he has previously won the race with in three of his four victories.
Lowndes has won Bathurst on five occasions with his last triumph in 2010.
“Both Whincup and Lowndes have proven records around Mount Panorama and are already proving popular in their respective cars,” said TAB’s Matt Jenkins.
On the third line of betting is Ford’s Mark Winterbottom at $5.50.
Winterbottom trails Lowndes by just one point in the Drivers Championship and will take a step forward in claiming his first championship should he win.
