The Brian Cox-trained Sumakaray has drawn barrier 1 for her highly anticipated return to city racing at Caulfield on Saturday.
To be ridden by Michael Walker, Sumakaray will tackle a strong field in the $120,000 Alinghi Stakes (1100m). Sumakaray resumed from a 22-week spell with an impressive win at the recent Benalla Cup meeting.
Saturday’s assignment will be the toughest field she has faced since running unplaced on Oaks Day last year when ridden by Luke Nolen. Sumakaray has had one previous start at Caulfield where she finished unplaced.
The four-year-old mare boasts the impressive strike rate of five wins from 10 races for almost $150,000 in career earnings.
