FORMER Billabong Crows coach Danny Kirchen wants Tocumwal to “stamp its mark” on the Picola league after signing on to coach the Bloods next year.
Kirchen, who has coached Mulwala to the past two reserves’ flags in the Murray league, will coach Tocumwal next season.
Kirchen, who played 150 senior games for the Lions, said coaching the club in its first year in another competition was an exciting opportunity.
“Coaching seniors at any level is an exciting opportunity,” Kirchen said.
“But it is good to take on this job now and it’s a good chance for the club to go and stamp its mark on a competition.
“We won’t be going out and recruiting big names but we’ll get a bit of depth and get the existing group up and about.
“We’ll be competitive.”
Tocumwal was full of praise for Kirchen.
“Danny was highly recommended to us because of his great character and we believe he will be of great value to the Tocumwal Football Netball Club as we rebuild,” the club said.
“It was a really tough decision to move to the Picola Football Netball League.
“Our life members, past players, current players and officials were all taken into account when the committee moved to vote on the transfer.”
