WANGARATTA City Speedway kicks off its 2013-14 season tomorrow afternoon, with plenty of action from the popular visiting divisions of compact speedcars and GP midgets, along with local stars in their sedans having a good old Holden v Ford stoush hot on the heels of a Ford victory at Bathurst.
Vic sports sedans are a popular division locally, where Holdens are tough to beat, as Simon Hill will be with his new V8 engined sedan, along with Craig Cottier, Rhys Collins, Jamie Paull and former junior sedan regular Brodie Montague.
In standard saloons, Gary Evans is always entertaining and will be challenged by Stuart Densem and Michael Poole and the younger drivers have strong numbers in the junior standard saloon division.
In GP midgets, Victorian champion Ash Booker will be hounded from start to finish by a number of drivers, including Geoff Meyers, Lisa Chalcraft, Chris Fowler, Mark Shiells and Dennis Myers, along with a few new drivers to the division this season.
A great field of compact speedcars have nominated to run at Wangaratta, which will be the venue for the Victorian Championship this season.
Lone New South Welshman Gavin Gay will be trying to take a win from the Victorians tomorrow and work out some set ups on the freshened-up venue.
Robbie Gordon, Michael Dickson, Mark Cecil, Keith Astrella and Joe Lostich will be among the front runners.
Gates open at noon, with racing from 4pm.
