THE Border’s NSW Rural Fire Service volunteers have been deployed in the hard-hit lower Blue Mountains district of Winmalee.
Southern Border team manager George Alexander said yesterday the crew of 24 firefighters were being kept busy in the district.
“I have spoken with them and they have plenty of meaningful work to do,” he said.
“They are involved in some of the mop up and have some control tasks to do.
“They are due to come home on Monday.”
A decision had not yet been made if a “fresh crew” would be deployed after Monday.
