KINGSWOODS, Monaros and FJs will no longer be the sole focus of Wangaratta’s annual spring Holden celebration.
The Show Us Your Holden Day has been rebadged as the All GM Show and Shine Day to allow any model made by the American-owned company to appear when the event is staged at Apex Park tomorrow.
The change allows marques such as Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac, Opel and Vauxhall to be displayed alongside Holdens of all eras.
Organiser and Early Holden Car Club member Anthony Cutrona said after 11 years the Holden-only format had become stale with last year’s exhibitor total of 70 cars down from a peak of 120.
“It’s just changing things around a bit and our attendance figures were down a bit and we thought we can’t do the same thing year after year,” Mr Cutrona said.
The accountant, who spent years restoring a 1967 HR ute, is hoping more than 100 vehicles will feature in the show which is unrestricted by car age or appearance.
“It doesn’t matter what shape the car is in, whether it has a bit of rust or not, this is the chance for the normal Joe Blow to come along with their pride and joy,” Mr Cutrona said.
“It’s not like other shows where there are prizes for best paint job or best upholstery.”
The show runs from 9.30am to 2pm.
