WAGGA broke a 13-year drought when it marched to victory in the annual John Baker Memorial Tennis Shield at the Albury Grasscourts yesterday.
The association dominated the competition to finish on 666 games.
Albury was the runner-up on 570 with Griffith on 489 and Wodonga on 278.
Although Albury took an under-strength line-up into the junior singles and doubles competition, Albury Tennis Association president Ken Wurtz said Wagga deserved its victory.
“It was a good day of junior tennis,” Wurtz said.
