MUMS and dads are being asked to return the favour and back a dinner to raise funds for Wodonga’s new parents and babies unit.
The Albury Hume Rotary Club is hosting the dinner at La Maison on Friday to help furnish the unit’s new home in Vermont Street after its recent move from Mercy Hospital.
The unit will officially open on Tuesday.
“It’s about making the new location warm and welcoming,” Rotary’s Vicki Gray said.
“They need to buy things like couches and recliners to make parents feel at home, as opposed to it feeling like they are in a hospital setting.”
The evening will include a four-course dinner catered by La Maison, matched with wines from Stanton and Killeen, as well as music provided by the Murray Conservatorium.
There will be two guest speakers — Dr David Newsom, a partner with the Albury-Wodonga paediatric group, and Julie Wright, Albury Wodonga Health’s nursing and midwifery deputy director.
Border mum Jess Kellahan said the service had come in handy for members of her mother’s group.
“Some have had breast-feeding issues, while others just needed some shut-eye,” she said.
“They have come along for some shut-eye and got some hot tips at the same time.”
Tickets cost $75.
