THE Lavington Rural Fire Brigade service has returned to the Border after heading to the Blue Mountains to protect homes threatened by the NSW bushfires.
Joining a strike force of five trucks from the district, their two tankers were called to protect homes at Springwood and Winmalee, backburn against the blaze and install hand trails to stop the fire.
They spoke to The Border Mail about the job they were asked to do to help residents in their hour of need.
