ALBURY North-Lavington Swimming Club has bolstered its coaching ranks with the addition of Kel Rook in the area of strength and conditioning.
Fifteeen ANL swimmers this month started a program under the guidance of Rook, who has been with Tuggeranong Vikings swim squad in Canberra and other top level senior and junior athletes in other sports including triathlons.
Rook is based at Mount Beauty and travels to Lavington Swim Centre to oversee the squad twice a week.
The Marlins’ coaching line-up is made up of head coach Steve Rodgers, Vanessa Williamson, Leon Howard, Jim Dooley and Brianna Dawson.
Dooley has again taken charge of the club’s out of town swimmers based at Howlong.
ANL will host its open meet on November 9 to 10.
Squad members are also targeting the state titles in Melbourne in December followed by the Victoria Country championships which will be held for the first time at the WAVES complex in Wodonga in late January.
“All swimmers have set clearly defined goals geared around these major meets,” Rodgers said.
“The club has an established pathway for swimmers from juniors all the way through.”
The Marlins had 17 swimmers qualify for Victorian states last year and Rodgers expected similar numbers to make their way to the event in December.
The Ovens and Murray and national age championships are other events on the radar of ANL swimmers.
The captains and vice-captains are Lachlan Emerson, Hugh McMahon, Brianna Rodgers and Kate Johnston.
