The Lions, who finished eighth last season, look set to push into finals contention following the arrival of Dean Bigger as assistant-coach and key position player Nathan Parker from Mulwala.
Fellow Mulwala players James Wilson and Jake and Tom Beams have also followed O’Bryan from last year’s Murray Football League grand finalists.
Classy utility Heath Northey is back at Wahgunyah after missing last season through injury while Ross and Hamish Payne are also on board.
“It’s always good to pick up a few early recruits and we’re in pretty good shape at the moment,” O’Bryan said.
“The club was competitive this year and hopefully we can keep improving.
“We would still like a couple more particularly a key forward.”
Wahgunyah’s major losses are former coach Adam Dodd and dangerous forward Terrence Jones.
The recruiting spree continues the influx of players into the league in recent weeks following the lead of Tyson Gorupic (Mitta United), Sam Cross (Thurgoona) and Luke Norton-Smith (Kiewa-Sandy Creek).
Meanwhile, Rutherglen has appointed former Yarrawonga premiership player Dallas Gallagher as senior coach.
The footballing journeyman, who will take over from Darren Hatton, will join the Cats from Tasmania in coming days to start pre-season training with the TDFL club.
Gallagher has spent time with Latrobe and Turners Beach in Tasmania and played in Yarrawonga’s 2006 flag.
