Avid Wodonga gardener Annette Collins will sell hundreds of potted plants on Saturday to raise funds for ovarian cancer.
There will also be pre-loved handbags, shoes and jewellery up for grabs as part of the Border Ovarian Cancer Awareness Group’s monster garage sale.
Mrs Collins will open her home at 50-52 Stanley Street, Wodonga, from 8am to sell many varieties of plants, including Japanese wind flowers, orchids, succulents, bearded iris, salvia, liriope and arum lilies.
“As a cancer survivor myself, it’s my way of contributing to the group,” she said.
“I have been potting these plants for six months. I can’t stand to throw out anything in the garden if it will grow on.”
Group president Heather Watts encouraged residents to support the sale, saying plants were a popular Christmas present.
“People can pick up a gift while helping a great cause,” she said.
Plant prices will start from as little as $1.
The money raised will be split between research into ovarian cancer and the new regional cancer centre in Albury.
