The brigade wants to add a 2400-litre truck to its 3000-litre tanker to ensure there’s no need to rely on private vehicle when a fire occurs, said captain Brian Church
“We had four fires last year when our tanker was away on strike teams and we had to use private units,” Mr Brian said.
“There was one out there on Kookaburra Point and there was 2500 people out on the lake — it could have been catastrophic and we had to rely on private units.”
It’s hoped the auction on Sunday will generate a good tally towards the $49,000 the brigade is raising for the new $180,000 tanker.
Some government money is being provided towards the cost.
Items on offer include grinders, a wheelchair, a billiard table and a pressure washer to a jockey wheel.
The sale begins at 9.30am at a Mahers Road property, about 500 metres south of the Bonegilla crossroads.
