With the Phoenix only a couple of points ahead of their opponents on the ladder, O’Brien, pictured right, said it was a golden opportunity to consolidate its position.
“It’s a big game for both sides,” O’Brien said.
“We are in similar positions and a win here is really important.
“We’re definitely looking to bounce back from our loss to Wodonga last week, but I don’t think there will be a lot in it.”
New City will unveil another first-gamer in Steve Joliffe today.
Joliffe, who will play football for Wodonga Raiders next year, made 87 and 30 in his only second grade match and will further stabilise the Phoenix’s top-order alongside Will Brown, John Pratt and O’Brien.
Lavington has kept a similar line-up to last weekend with Jay Banks unavailable and leading second grade wicket-taker Jaydon Wright coming in to the line-up.
