The attraction of Brian was that there was a bonus $20,000 for catching him.
Event director Tony Bennett said 2540 people and 1400 boats were at the lake from Friday for the three-day festival at which 260 cod, 200 golden perch and 2000 carp were caught.
Michael Maher caught the biggest cod at 113 centimetres while the biggest caught by a junior was Brock Pierce’s 108-centimetre whopper.
Mr Bennett said Brian had eluded all the lines so, with the money unclaimed, “next year we’ll step up to a Ford SR8 ute as a bonus”.
He said with entries for the classic tapering, it would be widely promoted next year.
“We’ll go bigger and better to get entries up to 3000,” he said.
