Jane Richards, now a police officer stationed at Wangaratta, told the Wangaratta Coroner's Court Ms Martyn spoke to her soon after Daniel's remains were found.

She said Ms Martyn told her Ms Thomas returned from a Shepparton parenting class during the days before Daniel was reported missing and strangled her son.

"Donna grabbed Daniel around the neck and wouldn't let go," Ms Richards said Ms Martyn told her.

"Mandy said Daniel was turning blue."

Ms Martyn told her Ms Thomas left her house and Ms Martyn tried to revive Daniel, but to no avail.

She told Ms Richards she washed Daniel's body, wrapped him in a blanket and put him in her son's bed.

She told her she placed Daniel under her house the next morning before moving him to under Ms Thomas' Lawrence Street house that night.

Ms Richards said she did not disclose the information to police until last year as she believed she would breach Ms Martyn's - her client- confidentiality.

Ms Richards' cross-examination continues this afternoon.
