Simon Ward’s Synergy Promotions hosted a Muay Thai fight night for the first time last year with more than 200 spectators and Ward hopes to attract an even bigger crowd this time.
The event will feature five World Kickboxing Association-sanctioned title fights, with the main event an Australian welter-weight title bout between local Drew Quirk and Kyle Sferco.
Quirk has a record of five wins and a draw from 10 previous fights.
The bout is full Thai rules, which includes elbows to the head.
Ward, the head trainer at Synergy in Albury, said the event had attracted fighters nationwide.
“We have a card of fighters from all over the country including South Australia, Sydney, Melbourne, Geelong and Perth as well as a strong local contingent,” Ward said.
“There is WKA title up for grabs, alongside two Australia titles, two East Coast titles, and two NSW and Victoria titles.
“The locals are well represented with Drew Quirk, Mat Morley, and Karlie Hodgkin set to fly the local flag.
“All my fighters have been training hard for the past six months.
“Last year’s show had a great turn out and I’m confident tomorrow night will be even bigger and better.”
Four-time world champion Caley Reece will be a special guest on the night and will also hold a seminar during the day at Synergy Training Centre tomorrow.
Doors open 5.30pm with ringside seats $50 and general entry $40.
