FIRE-fighting authorities battled a fast-moving grassfire at Markwood yesterday that burnt five hectares and threatened homes.

The blaze broke out about 3.30pm on Yarrabee Road, Markwood, south-east of Wangaratta.
A helicopter was called in to water bomb the fire that threatened three homes and with 16 fire trucks they had the blaze under control by 7pm.
The cause of the fire will be investigated.
