Detective Leading Sen-Constable Peter Clifford said a two-day showcase of stolen property in the Bundalong Hall had unexpected rewards for police who were able to return items to owners who identified long-lost property.
Sen-Constable Clifford said the property was linked to burglaries that occurred as far back as 2008 and in total, they were able to identify 25 new burglaries they had not yet linked to the stolen property recovered at homes in Yarrawonga and Mulwala last month.
He said they had displayed more than 1100 stolen items.
Forty-two people identified 182 items stolen from their homes.
“It has turned out well, but we’ve got a lot more work to do,” Sen-Constable Clifford said.
A Yarrawonga woman, 44, faces 45 charges of burglary and 43 of theft over burglaries in which she allegedly stole goods valued at $350,000 over the past two years.
Robyn Ferguson is accused of targeting homes in Cobram, Benalla, Yarrawonga, Wangaratta, Rutherglen, Corowa and Howlong.
