Wells arrived back on the Border last week and will be pressing for selection in the Crows’ line-up to play reigning Cricket Albury-Wodonga premier Lavington at Alexandra Park on Saturday.
“Tom came back to Albury because he loved playing at the club and that’s obviously a credit to the people who were involved last year,” coach James McNeil said yesterday.
“It will be good to draw off his experience.”
The return of Wells will cause a selection dilemma at Alexandra Park with only two of the club’s three imports —Wells, speedster Gurjit Sandhu and medium pacer Paul Connolly — allowed to play in the same team.
Wells, 20, played five first-class matches for Leicestershire last year after making 420 runs at 60 for East Albury last season.
He also took 14 wickets.
“He’s obviously handy after playing some cricket for Leicestershire,” McNeil said.
East Albury is sitting in third position on the CAW ladder at the halfway stage of the season but faces a tough run to the finals against Lavington, Tallangatta, North Albury, New City and St Patrick’s.
McNeil will miss Saturday’s clash due to representative commitments with Victoria in the Australian Country Championships in Canberra.
The championships start today and finish on January 14.
