CRICKET Albury-Wodonga youngster Jaydn Chalmers, above, has left a lasting impression on North East Country Week.
As well as terrorising rival batsmen in his team’s two wins, the Tallangatta opening bowler managed to snap a stump against Benalla.
“It had the boys talking,” coach Leo Glass said of the incident yesterday.
The talented CAW under-15 team has been doing more than talking over the past two days — it has notched up wins against Benalla and CAW Country to book a berth in Friday’s final.
It could face its biggest test today — against Wangaratta in its final round-robin match.
CAW struggled to make 101 against CAW Country at Urana Road Oval yesterday but hit back strongly with the ball, thanks to three run-outs and some fine bowling from Hayden Wells (2-7) and Avery Weilandt (3-14).
“The boys bowled and fielded really well,” Glass said.
“They aren’t allowed to bowl short, they have to pitch it up.”
