Residents returned to the Perth hills yesterday following a fire which devastated homes in the area.
The blaze, which was sparked on Sunday afternoon, has destroyed 52 homes and is responsible for the death of 62-year-old Ron Shaw, who collapsed while trying to defend his home.
Mundaring shire president Helen Dullard, who visited some of the homes in the aftermath, said she was shocked by the damage caused by the flames.
The fire is believed to have been started by a fallen power pole on a private property and Fire and Emergency Services Commissioner Wayne Gregson said there could be a review of WA's private power pole laws following the incident.
