Keith Raymond Pearson was remanded in custody after being arrested by detectives at work in Wodonga on Thursday.
Pearson, 54, of Harmer Street, Glenroy, has been charged with arson and breaching an intervention order following a house fire in De Kerilleau Drive earlier this month.
Police say the fire caused at least $450,000 damage.
Solicitor Sally Wilson represented Pearson yesterday and told magistrate John Murphy an adjournment until next Tuesday was being sought.
Ms Wilson said a filing hearing will be sought next week.
An accelerant was used to start the fire.
