Albury’s Darren Warner was taking his two dogs for a walk at Bonegilla Island, across the Waterworks bridge on the Victorian side of the river, when he came across the rubbish.
Mr Warner found empty beer bottles, food wrappers and boxes for inflatable water lounges and toys.
“It’s a real mess,” he said.
“It’s pretty ordinary to leave behind this amount of rubbish.
“Even if there are no bins, you can take the rubbish with you.”
The Crown land is managed by Parklands Albury-Wodonga.
The Border Mail had previously been told volunteers patrolled the area on a weekly basis during summer to collect litter after bins were removed because they seemed to encourage dumping of rubbish.
The Border Mail yesterday left messages with Parklands Albury-Wodonga but calls were not returned.
