A DRIVER miraculously walked away from a single vehicle accident at Baranduda last night.
Emergency services were called to the intersection of Kiewa Valley Highway and Boyes Road about 6.50pm, where the driver’s Toyota Hilux and livestock trailer had crashed and rolled over.
Acting Sgt Bryan Gain said the man was travelling down the highway with two cattle in the trailer when he took a sweeping bend.
The cattle became startled by the trailer swaying and their alarm caused the driver to lose control and swerve onto the side of the road.
The driver escaped with minor injuries but was taken to Albury hospital by ambulance for assessment.
The cattle were unhurt.
Acting Sgt Gain said it was a good reminder for all drivers towing livestock or goods.
“The driver certainly didn’t do anything wrong in his actions,” he said.
“It’s one of those things that people need to bear in mind when they are towing trailers or heavy vehicles, to be careful and drive to the conditions.
“He is extremely lucky ... the vehicle was totalled and had to be taken away by tow truck.”
The road was closed for a short time while the scene was cleared.
