The member for Albury, Greg Aplin, said $1.25 million in Federal Government funding would improve the site.
“The project aims to encourage drivers of heavy vehicles to comply with legally required rest break requirements by providing improved rest, toilet, shade, shelter and load checking facilities,” he said.
“Roads and Maritime Services is scheduled to start work on February 24.
“Work will include providing toilet facilities with disabled access and improvements to lighting, footpaths, picnic tables and chairs.”
The upgrade will occur on weekdays, 7am to 6pm, and on Saturdays, 8am to 1pm, with a June completion date, weather pending.
