Police divers found the man's body downstream from where he entered the water shortly after 11am.
It is understood the 49-year-old Victorian man had returned to a houseboat moored on the river about 12.30am when he fell overboard.
His friends tried to help him but could not find him.
A search of the water and riverbanks was conducted by police from NSW and Victoria as well as paramedics, SES volunteers, Fire & Rescue NSW, the Volunteer Rescue Association and NSW Maritime Rescue but the man was not located, so the search continued today.
The man has become the fifth victim to be claimed by the Murray River this summer and the second at Moama in less than a week, after a 27-year-old Colac man drowned on Saturday.
