The O and M has scheduled a press conference at the SS&A Club with Fevola in attendance to explain his dramatic backflip towards representative football.
He will lead the one-time interleague powerhouse into battle against Hampden in late May, most likely at Wangaratta.
Fevola, pictured, has shunned representing the O and M in his first two seasons in the competition.
League officials formally interviewed the former AFL leading goalkicker in late January about the position he had put his hand up for.
His most recent representative appearance came in 2008 when he booted six goals in a best-on-ground display for Victoria against a Dream Team in the AFL’s 150th anniversary celebration match at the MCG.
Fevola has beaten at least two other contenders for the job.
Former Albury co-coach Danny Stevens and Marc Quarrell, who led Shepparton United to back-to-back flags in 2012-13, had been linked to the job.
Quarrell is also a former Pigeon and has been sounded out to replace Lee Fraser as an assistant at Yarrawonga.
Pigeons champion Craig Ednie is expected to play a support role to Fevola in the build-up to the match.
The O and M has also been helping Fevola assemble his coaching set-up as it bids to recover from last year’s spanking from Peninsula which sent the league back to the 5 v 6 match.
