Valentine's flowers still pick of bunch

A man who ordered a sequence of roses to be delivered at his lover’s workplace throughout Valentine’s Day yesterday was one of the more romantic requests made of one Albury florist.

Another man ordered single red roses to be handed out, with a glass of champagne each, to women headed out for a night at Lake Hume.

Vines Florist owner Maria Attwater said she was privy to plenty of romantic tales on her busiest Valentine’s Day yet.

“We always get lots of funny stories, such as someone getting two sets of flowers from different people,” she said.

Ms Attwater said the day dedicated to love was particularly noticed among younger people this year.

“I remember when I was at school, you wouldn’t even think about Valentine’s Day,” she said.

“In recent years lots of young people have been coming in wanting to buy flowers.”

Ms Attwater said some young men needed help in picking out what they wanted, while others had been told exactly what to get by young girlfriends.
