A hungry learner and his accompanying driver looking to boost the young driver's driving hours have both blown over the drink-driving limit.
On Friday, at about 3.30am, Pakenham police randomly intercepted the 16-year-old learner on the Princes Highway at Officer in Melbourne's outer south-east.
Both he and the accompanying driver, a woman aged 37, tested positive to preliminary breath tests.
On being taken back to Pakenham police station an evidentiary test showed a blood alcohol reading of .0.51 per cent for the boy and a 0.083 per cent reading for the woman.
A Victoria Police statement said: "When asked why he was driving, the L-Plater said they were headed to McDonalds and he wanted to boost his hours of driving practice."
The Officer pair are expected to be charged on summons with drink driving-related offences.
