Hosking trailed his younger rival by 30 seconds heading into the final three-kilometre run, but scorched home to win in a time of 1 hour, 13 minutes and 35 seconds.
Competitors did the 300-metre swim, 13-kilometre ride and three-kilometre run twice, which Hosking said he enjoyed.
“It suits me pretty well,” Hosking said.
“I don’t like swimming twice, but I got there.
“It’s a good event.”
Hosking reeled in Rodgers with about 500 metres to go to reverse the result of last weekend’s mini triathlon when he finished behind Rodgers and Damian Gillard.
He has also played second fiddle to international competitor Jesse Featonby on several occasions this season.
Hosking will now turn his attention to triathlons at Rutherglen and Holbrook next month.
The evergreen Heidi Poole won the women’s event in 1:27:54, well clear of Rachael Long (1:34:35) and Sarah O’Reilly (1:36:49).
Two records were broken, with Wodonga’s Barry Bodsworth (1:16:03) knocking five minutes off Fabrizio Andreoni’s time in the 50-plus men and Jo Deacon (1:38:03) bettering her time by two minutes in the 50-plus women.
The club will hold its Olympic distance triathlon on March 2 at Allans Flat, with entry details available on the club’s website.
