The Shepparton-raised Lyle knows what it is like to be an aspiring amateur from the bush and also shares some history with the Border pair.
He too played Melbourne pennant golf for Commonwealth before turning professional.
Last year Murray and Droop were stars in the junior pennant team but will step up into the seniors this season.
