ZACH Murray and Frazer Droop found the going tough at the Victorian Open this week but had the opportunity to play a practice round with inspirational cancer survivor and US Tour veteran Jarrod Lyle.
The Shepparton-raised Lyle knows what it is like to be an aspiring amateur from the bush and also shares some history with the Border pair.
He too played Melbourne pennant golf for Commonwealth before turning professional.
Last year Murray and Droop were stars in the junior pennant team but will step up into the seniors this season.
“It was great to play with Jarrod,” Droop said.
“He was in good spirits and fit but said he still has some boxes to tick before going back to play on a regular basis.”
