At the event, inspired by India’s festival of colours, coloured powder will be thrown and squirt on participants during the five-kilometre race set to music at Albury Racecourse.
However, Rainbow Runs director Anthony Marchesani insisted the object was to have fun rather than win.
“It’s more about fun, dancing and enjoying than running,” he said.
“There is no time limit — they can roll around in the colour or stop and have a dance.”
Mr Marchesani said the event was open to all ages from babies in prams to the elderly on walkers.
“You can be a walker, you don’t have to run one step,” he said.
From 2000 to 5000 Border residents are expected to enter the Sunday, April 6 event.
“We as a company are proud that we are bringing big events like this to regional areas,” Mr Marchesani said.
