But there were no excited Wodonga Middle Years College students — they were rushing to classrooms after a former student had arrived at the school making threats.
The students were told over the PA system at 1.30pm to go to inside.
It followed an earlier incident at 8.30am.
Acting Sgt Gavin Blair said there had been a threat by a former student, 15, via Facebook to beat up students.
“It was pretty much a storm in a tea cup but the school did the right things to protect their students,” he said.
The children were in their rooms for about 20 minutes both times. The former student, 15, was escorted from the property about 2pm.
No charges were laid and the youth was served with a trespass notice.
Felltimber campus principal Russell Polson said the decision had been made to keep the students inside so as to not further upset the agitated youth.
“The safety of all was our main concern — including for the boy,” he said.”
Mr Polson said the students and staff had been praised for their handling of the situation.
He hoped the boy would get the help he required.
The school sent a letter home to parents explaining the situation.
Fittler, along with Nathan Hindmarsh and Matt Cooper, later talked about homeless youth as part of their Hogs for Homeless tour of NSW to spread awareness and raise funds.
The tour will end at the round one match between the South Sydney Rabbitohs and Sydney Roosters at ANZ Stadium on Thursday, next week.
