HENTY tailender Richard Maher saved the day in his team’s thrilling semi-final win over Osborne in the Holbrook and District Cricket Association at Henty yesterday.

With the Swampies reeling at 7-39 chasing 114, Maher came to the rescue with his highest first grade score by making a match- winning 47.
Chris Manns provided support with 21 while Chris Spicer (8 not out) hit the winning runs.
Craig Willis (4-60) and Andrew Madden (3-28) bowled well for Osborne.
Osborne also found the going tough at the crease with Darren Howard topscoring with 21 against good bowling from Spicer (3-31), Dylan Hore (4-19) and Manns (3-26).
Meanwhile, Culcairn advanced to the grand final with a 59-run victory over Holbrook at Culcairn yesterday.
The Lions made 9-151 thanks to solid knocks from Vince Chaffey (33), David Badger (24) and Jamie Cooper (19) and held Holbrook to 91 in reply with Jim Grills topscoring with 32.
Cooper (3-27) and Justin Frohling (3-9) were the pick of the Culcairn bowlers.
