Scott Pollard, 23, applied for bail after being arrested during a raid at Lavington yesterday afternoon.
Magistrate Tony Murray refused bail due to the seriousness of the charges and ordered Pollard to reappear in May.
Pollard has been charged with various firearms offences, including the manufacture of a prohibited pistol.
He was arrested when police executed a search warrant at a home in Worsley Place, Lavington.
During the search detectives seized a .410 calibre pistol along with firearm components, plans and related tools which are allegedly linked to the manufacturing process.
The detectives were part of Strike Force Ednie, which was set up to investigate the murder of Mr Hargrave, who was shot in the face at his home in Vickers Road in October last year.
Lavington man Campbell Hart has been charged with Mr Hargave's murder and is due to reappear in Albury Court on March 31.
