Police say two 28-year-old men who knew each other met at the oval in Finley at about 9.30pm on Monday.
They say one of the men produced a rifle and fired a shot.
The other man immediately went to Finley Police Station and reported the matter.
On Tuesday morning, police executed a search warrant at a home in Finley and arrested a 28-year-old resident.
They also seized eight registered long-arm firearms, two registered handguns, two unregistered long-arm firearms, one unregistered handgun, small plastic bags containing white powder, axe handles and a large amount of ammunition.
The man was charged with firing a firearm in a public place, armed with intent to commit indictable offence, intimidation and possessing unauthorised firearms.
He was refused bail on firearm and intimidation charges and will appear in Albury Local Court on Wednesday.
