Two people hurt in Tungamah collision

AN elderly man was taken to hospital with rib injuries after his car collided with another at a Tungamah intersection on Saturday morning.

Police allege the driver, a Cobram man, 75, failed to stop at a give way sign.

The driver of the second vehicle, a Ford Territory, and his passenger, a Yarrawonga woman, 56, were travelling south along Barr Street at 9am when their vehicle collided with the side of the older man’s station wagon at the intersection with Spry Street.

The Cobram man was taken by ambulance to Wangaratta hospital for treatment. He was in a stable condition.

Police from Yarrawonga attended the scene for more than an hour.

The Yarrawonga woman was also taken to hospital for observation and treatment for general soreness.

Police said the Cobram man received penalty notices for several traffic offences, totalling $500.
