The man, 28, is wanted for prosecution over the alleged murder and robbery of Deng Chi Li.
Police say Mr Li's body was found at the back of a Baylis Street business with multiple stab wounds on September 11, 2006.
Strike Force Nuggetty, which includes officers from Wagga local command as well as the state homicide squad, issued a warrant for the man in Malaysia's arrest following investigations.
The matter remains before the courts in Malaysia.
