DANIEL Searle has never shied away from a challenge.
Mr Searle is legally blind but he has started training with Fab Andreoni to run the 11.3-kilometre Nail Can Hill on May 4.
Nail Can organising committee chairman Stephen Wood said planning for the event was well under way.
“Nail Can is a hugely popular activity for runners of all ages, and attracts more than 2000 participants,” he said.
The event is the major fund-raising activity for the Rotary Club of West Albury, which last year donated $57,000 to Aspect Riverina School for a kitchen where autistic students can learn to live independently.
This year the major beneficiary of the run will be the Wewak Street School, which wants to install a new wheelchair accessible spinner and other sensory and exercise equipment.
Mr Wood acknowledged the commitment of the event sponsors, led by the Commercial Club.
He said the Half Can Hill Run, introduced last year, would return and he was expecting many more entries for the four-kilometre event.
