A sewage spill yesterday at Lake Hume will not affect the area’s drinking water, says North East Water.
But a Bellbridge resident, who asked to remain anonymous, said the time it took for the organisation to respond to the incident was “not good enough”.
The man said he first called about 5.40pm but at nearly 7pm no one had arrived.
He said he also called the Towong Council.
“It’s spewing out,” he said.
“Children live here and are playing in it.
“There have been sewage problems here for too long.”
A North East Water spokesman said a team had arrived about 7pm to fix a faulty pump station at Mitta Avenue responsible for the spill.
“We believe its only very little, around a kilolitre has spilt,” he said.
