Mr Crain, 30, died after falling from a power pole near Copland Street just after 12.30pm on Sunday.
He had scaled the power pole in an attempt to evade police, who had been pursuing him after detecting a Holden Commodore he was travelling in allegedly speeding along Tasman Road.
It’s believed Mr Crain touched a transmitter while up the power pole, which caused a shock and led him to fall 25 metres to the ground.
According to police, they were getting details when he fled the vehicle and climbed the pole.
Police tried to direct him to climb down and a short time later he fell.
The incident, and the role played by police in the tragedy, are now being investigated by a critical incident team from Cootamundra police command.
The investigation will be reviewed by an independent officer and overseen by Southern Region Command.
Several of Mr Crain’s friends and family have taken to Facebook since Sunday to offer their condolences to his family.
