Thieves have used a sledge hammer and angle grinder in a half-baked attempted robbery of a Myrtleford bakery’s safe but left empty-handed.
The thieves used the sledge hammer to break into Heiner’s Bakery on Standish Street about 12.30am yesterday.
Leading Sen-Constable David Jenkin said staff alerted police about 4.30am when they arrived at work.
“Their bid was unsuccessful and they left empty-handed,” he said.
“Nothing else was stolen or disturbed.”
Anyone who saw anything suspicious at the time is urged to phone Wangaratta police (03) 5723 0888.
