TWIN City may have scored the coup of the season with Socceroo and former junior Archie Thompson set to join the club for the second half of the AWFA season.
The 35-year-old has had almost 200 games in the top flight of Australian soccer.
Thompson is expected to return to the Border as a sales rep for an un-named district building firm with links to the Wanderers in what would be a dove-tailed finish to his stellar career.
The veteran striker also holds the goal scoring record for a single international match — 13, against American Samoa in a 31–0 victory in 2001.
But given the depth of talent at Twin City, it is likely Thompson may take up a position in the midfield rather than displace Zac Walker.
Happy April Fools’ Day, fans.
