Four Rural Fire Service trucks and three Fire and Rescue NSW trucks from Albury and Jindera were called to metal merchant OneSteel Wire in Scholtz Street about 7pm.
Albury police were last night investigating the case of the fire but said it wasn’t considered suspicious.
Albury Central fire brigade senior firefighter Dale Gillespie said the fire could have been much worse given its proximity to spray booths and accelerants.
Meanwhile, a small fire broke out in the kitchen of a fast food outlet in Centro Lavington about 8.15pm last night.
Three Rural Fire Service trucks and police attended the fire which was quickly brought under control.
Mr Gillespie said Woolworths staff and customers were evacuated from the building while police and firefighters attended the scene.
