The school will be the major beneficiary of next month’s Nail Can Hill Run with proceeds to be put towards the installation of a new wheelchair accessible spinner and other sensory and exercise equipment for their playground.
The run is Rotary Club of West Albury’s major fund-raising activity with $57,000 donated to Aspect Riverina School last year.
Organising committee chairman Stephen Wood said the run remained hugely popular on the Border.
“Wewak provides specialised educational services for students from Albury and the surrounding area who have moderate to severe intellectual disabilities,” Woods said.
“With the community’s support we are hopeful of raising a similar amount of money this year to enable the Wewak Street School’s project to proceed.
“We are greatly appreciative of the support from both participants and sponsors.
“Without their commitment to Nail Can, the Rotary Club of Albury West would not be able to achieve its goal of providing significant support.”
The run will be held on May 4.
