Sack Sophie Mirabella, says university protest

MORE than 50 students protested yesterday against Sophie Mirabella’s appointment at the University of Melbourne and demanded she be sacked.

The former Liberal frontbencher, a graduate of the same university, has been made a public policy fellow in the school of social and political sciences.

The demonstration was organised by a group campaigning for refugee rights.

A spokeswoman alleged that when she was member for Indi, Mrs Mirabella had supported policies that intruded on the international human rights of refugees, Aboriginal people and Muslims in Australia.
