Henty’s Kerry Boyle and Stephen Broad (North Albury) are in the team to play against Ovens and Murray in the annual challenge next month.
Howlong’s Wally Bourne and district singles winner Peter Forck (Henty) are in the over-60s team to play at the state titles at Ulladulla from May 20-22.
Zone selectors have decided against having anyone from the over-60 team doubling up against the O and M.
The team to play at Wodonga on May 24-25 includes many younger players.
Boyle has been skipping for Henty’s grade three team in pennant.
He recently combined with Glen Harrison and Kim Maher to win their club’s coveted two-day triples tournament from a strong field.
Broad has had a superb season skipping a North Albury rink in pennant and was instrumental in steering his club to victory in the final at Holbrook on Sunday.
His rink had the biggest winning margin in the elimination final on Saturday and likewise in the final against Commercial Club on Sunday.
Broad was selected to play for the zone against O and M two years ago at Wodonga.
He will play third for the rink skipped by Pedro Rudd (Wagga RAFC), while Boyle will play second for long-time zone skip Bruce Lack.
Two impressive inclusions in the zone team are Apollo Birch and Francis Ryan, who both play for Wagga RAFC.
Birch has been prominent since coming to the region and Ryan is a former Queensland junior representative.
Both will play as leads, which gives an indictation of the team’s depth.
David Ferguson is skipping one of the zone rinks and will be back at Wodonga after skipping a NSW rink to success against Victoria at the same venue a couple of months ago.
Zone 8 has dominated the event in recent years, with the O and M struggling to match its depth.
The Zone 8 team is: Isaac Raynor (Wagga RAFC), Brad Thomas (Tumut), David Inglis (Wagga RSL), David Ferguson (Wagga RAFC) s; Tim Crampton (Tumut RSL), Bryce de Bruyn (Wagga RAFC), Rick Potter (Barmedman), David Quigley (Young) s; Francis Ryan (Wagga RAFC), Michael Anthony (Barmedman), Brett White (Wagga RSL), Christian Morgan (Narrandera) s; Apollo Birch (Wagga RAFC), Kerry Boyle (Henty), Rob Marshall (Wagga RSL), Bruce Lack (Temora) s; Wayne Foote (Barmedman), Graham McComber (Narrandera), Daniel Thomas (Tumut), Nick Gannon (Tumut) s; Sean Smith (Wagga RA FC), Peter Thornton (Griffith Ex-Services), Stephen Broad (North Albury), Ped- ro Rudd (Wagga RAFC) s.
